TMB Art Metal is a small London based company founded in 2004 dedicated to producing very high quality limited edition aeroplane sculptures and car sculptures, the unique key to each being that they are cast using original “donor” metal from the actual aeroplane or car the sculpture represents.
The creation of Christopher Bennett, TMB Art Metal came about as an afterthought following the much publicised excavation of a Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft, P2725 TM-B, which crashed into Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1, on 15th September 1940, Battle of Britain Day. Post-excavation, using fragments of corroded engine casing from the Hurricane’s Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, Christopher decided to cast a limited edition of aluminium sculptures, some for presentation purposes, some for retail. Ideal as executive gifts these limited edition car sculptures and aeroplane sculptures would grace any office or study with a fascinating peice of history.
Such was the interest in the concept - essentially turning 'redundant' metal with provenance into beautiful works of art - that TMB Art Metal was created to expand the portfolio of limited edition car sculptures and aeroplane sculptures.
